on a scale of one to Kendrick Lamar, this is how much of a hater I am when it comes to Meta: not only did I customize an entirely new platform (not patreon or substack) to self-host my content, but I also archived most of my Facebook and instagram posts while I systematically migrate and backdate them from here to there so l can completely delete them and eventually exit Meta platforms.
AND I figured out how to make it a seamless display of journal (paywalled) and portfolio (not paywalled) on the same site, so no more trying to manage two links.

to treat myself so well as a general practice that I now struggle to figure out what to do for my birthday is a testament to how completely I've reparented myself: there's nothing special to "save" for my birthday because, if I want it and can afford it, I do it. in every way possible--geographically, emotionally, financially--my life is a world away from how I grew up.
the woman I am today is my gift to myself: I know her, I dreamt her, I built her, I love her.
to the friends who've asked about sending me physical gifts: while I sincerely appreciate the sentiment (because you know your girl loves a treat 😂), I neither have the suitcase space, nor an address permanent enough to give you.
